JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for a wide range of processing activities to support the multi provincial payroll process. All payroll activities are completed in adherence to established internal controls, relevant legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day to day payroll operations for all Canadian entities
  • Extensive experience in ADP Workforce Now payroll system in Canada
  • Responsible to process regular biweekly payrolls
  • Work with ADP to set up new departments, earnings/hours/deductions and memo codes with proper testing
  • Oversee data validation of Data Entry of New Hires, Terminations and Personnel Action Forms for employee data changes
  • The ability to process payroll for a 1,000+ employee organization with multiple company codes
  • Integrate and partner with HRIS team, and Canadian HR business partners and HR managers
  • Create Mass Import Payroll Files for HRIS
  • Importing data experience in ADP workforce now
  • Process manual checks
  • Audit data in payroll system/troubleshoot errors
  • Quarterly and Annual payroll reconciliation including any adjustments for prior Quarters
  • Integrate with Benefits team to load and process benefit deductions
  • Understand and comply with current payroll controls/reporting for compliance with SOX requirements
  • ADP GL experience a plus
  • Familiarity and processing of payroll across all payroll functions
  • Coordinates with manager and maintains written documentation regarding payroll procedures and processes necessary for reference and training materials
  • Support team with projects implementing new systems/processes
  • Knowledge of all regulatory and country laws around wage subsidy programs
  • Run payroll data reports

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITY:

  • Sound knowledge of payroll concepts, Federal and Provincial legislation
  • Proficiency in a computerized payroll environment: such as ADP Work Force Now
  • Experience with Success Factors Employee Central an asset
  • Strong computer skills working with Excel (pivot tables, vlookup)
  • Highly motivated, independent and able to work within a team in an environment that is fast paced and rapidly changing
  • Quick and accurate data entry skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and quality of work
  • Proficiency in problem solving, issue resolution, time management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, professional demeanor under pressure and work effectively with employees at all levels

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Member of the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) and completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner ( PCP) designation required
  • Minimum 5 years of recent Canadian payroll processing experience
