This Mailroom Supervisor job is for you if you enjoy... overseeing all aspects of the mail room operations, motivating staff, and keeping an organized, efficient workplace.

Mailroom Supervisor Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage the different shipping databases to ensure accuracy
  • Sort incoming and outgoing mail
  • Send and track overnight packages, reporting any potential problems to appropriate parties
  • Pick up and distribute special deliveries from the loading dock
  • Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in shipping activity and procedures
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, shipping couriers, etc.
  • Inform employees on how to avoid processing and other errors
  • Track postage expenses and keep a record of shipping supplies, orders, and expenses to help stay in line with the company's budget
  • Evaluates and recommends any changes in workflow processes; evaluates and recommends solutions
  • Provide training to new Mailroom Associates
  • Clean out rooms in the office building
  • Move boxes around the office building
  • Assist with various projects as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Dependable and detailed oriented with relevant experience in busy mailroom
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines
  • Proficient with computer and mailing systems
  • Previous experience in a client service oriented field
  • Knowledge of postal equipment to include postage machines, barcode scanners, and labeling
  • Familiarity with USPS general guidelines
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Must have High School Diploma

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • 5 years’ experience in busy corporate mailroom
  • Previous experience with Pitney Bowes and Fedex systems

 

Physical Required Qualifications:

  • Fine and/or gross motor skills, including the ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move packages on a standard wheeled cart with a load capacity of 100lbs
  • Ability to walk, bed, kneel, stand, and/or sit for an extended period of time
  • Manual dexterity required for operating office machinery (phone, copy machines, binding equipment, etc.)
  • The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
  • The ability to lift approximately 50lbs on a regular basis
